Hondata

Basically, I drive 60 miles each way to and from work in the morning and I use that time to datalog into Hondata. Lately, the laptop has been acting strange and rebooting after like 30 minutes of datalogging. Has anyone else experienced this issue?? I know this could be the result of many factors, but I'm trying to cover all the angles. thanks guys.

try doing a bios upgrade on the laptop, and also a software driver upgrade. make sure you uave the latest drivers of everythign on your laptop.

also are you covering the air inlet holes thathep cool the processor? These are things than can cause the laptop to overheat and thus rebooting.

one last thing, reseat the memory, it could be hitting a bad memory module of it got viberated at a strange angle. reseating can help.

If you can and have a spare ram module, replace the one in the laptop with the testing unit to see if it fixes the issue. Sometimes a bad memory moduel on a ram chip can trigger a reboot when it is accessed by the os due to error and by default windows is set to reboot on error rather than just sit there.

OK, this time I caught what happened on the screen. A bunch of "Access Violation at >insert hex address here<" dialog boxes covered the whole screen and Hondata crashed. I think you may be correct about the RAM issue. I'll have to take a look at it tonight. Any other possibilities?? thanks.

What version of software are you using?
