Dyno Tuning...getting the basics down.

Hello again, it's your friendly EvaUnit01. Well I had a question about dyno tuning that I wanted to ask. Last time I dynoed was with park83rsx and I was able to catch a few things but I wanted some clarification so that I can learn how to dyno and do things right. So here is what I remember:

-Copy and paste your cam maps in case you mess up

-Set low and high cam to 0 and do a few runs to get AF and ignition(highlight and set to 0 for low and high cam?)

-Do a dyno run for 10-50 for AF and ignition

-Do a dyno run for 0-50 setting VTEC point at 3K for high cam and 7K(if i remember) for the low cam and compare to make a composite map.

-make adjustments to composite map for max power.

-afterwards, do part throttle tuning on the road

Is there any points that I missed or did in a wrong order? I looked at the training videos too just in case they explained anything more in detail as well. I just want to make sure I have the process down so i can dyno my k24/k20 combo in T minus...5-6 months.

There's no point in going much over 6k off vtec. Your vtec point will be much lower anyway. Past 6500 rpm off vtec can cause damage in the a2 head.

Yeah you're right about the 6500, Brian Park sent me an email 2 days ago saying 6K or so.

With the 7lb pulley, I hit 9.8 psi at 6k on the low cam and it made terrible power. I never venture past 4500 now on the low cam on my supercharged rsx ;).

well of course that would be only for dyno purposes though. Never in real driving conditions.
