shift light install question

so I hooked up the shift light using the manuals instructions, I Tried my best to wire it across the cel and then to the jumper/ecu end it would blink at start up but not as a shift light. the cel comes on as the shift light every time so it works. I took it to an electrical place to get wiring diagrams and the guy working helped me out by locating the cel wires, and I hooked those wires up. that did'nt work. i tried wiring it backwards nothing. It seem like the bulb is good.
Being a swap does this require different treatment? its for a 91 civic dx with a b18c obd1.
Is anyone familair with the method to wire the shiftlight across the cel on a 91 civic dx, is it right off the back of the cluster or the ecu end? I tried both to no avail.
Thanks

As long as you follow the shiftlight installation inxtructions in the manual and then setup the settings in the interface box as per the instructions it will work for you. Have you forgotten to set the settings?

i followed the manual, i checked it about 4 times. I got pretty famiar with it , i connected to the a13 earth and a25, i swithced the wires i played around with it quite a bit . what setup in the settings in the interface box are you refering to? I have the shift light setup to work the cel, I can set it with the button,is there more to the settings?
its a swaped motor so it has a jumper on the wiring harness
its a 91 civic dx, with a jumper to a (p28 i think) running a gsr motor
also for the method of wiring across the cel do you actualy connect to the wires right behind the bulb? i dindt open my cluster up that far I just tried to hook it to the back of it, the mother board or whatever you call it. it was hard to see what connections where the correct ones.
thanks

So does the CEL come on as a shiftlight then when you reach the RPM point you have set in the interface box to activate the shift light?

Yes, thats what I use for now. yes the cels does work as the shift light and I can set it.
the only response from the LED light was a dim light at startup, but it was just about one second long, where as the cel lights up for 5 seconds or so. They are suppost to match up. that was the only time I got it to light up at all. so this might be a wiring mixup, although the cel works properly?
since you havent said anything regarding the fact that this is a swaped motor, plus a jumper to the ecu, can i rule this out as a problem?
I'm just waiting to attempt this again, I just wanted to make sure my setup wasnt the problem.
thanks

Just make sure you are connecting to the OBD1 side of the wiring. Since the CEL is working as the shiftlight then it is working, but you have some incorrect wiring.

Okay its working now. sweet.
so it was a wiring issue, the snaplock connector had cut the wire to shreds the first time I connected it, but i didnt notice till now. so I soldered it, and i'm on my way.
thanks
