This is on a 2005 type s w/kpro. I sent the ecu that I purchased that was K Pro'd back to its original owner so that he could go to acura and get his immobilizer recoded. It was back within a week and so I decided to put it back in. When I was taking one of the clips out of the stock ECU I accidently damaged some wires that lead to my ECU because one will not come out by hand and I have to use pliars which slipped. I was throwing P0010 about the VTC oild controlled solenoid valve malfunction after I plugged it back in. Which I know is common to the ecu not being clicked in all the way and also my speedo wouldn't work and I did make sure the countershaft thing was on. So I decided to go to the dealership to get the wires fixed. I put my stock ecu back in I put some electrical tape around the damaged part and as I was headed toward the dealership noticed that my speedo was working fine so I turned around and went home. When I stopped at home I made sure my car was idling okay because I know when you get the P0010 it is supposed idle different and go into limp mode. I was definately not in limp mode and my idle was fine. My check engine light was still on but I decided it had to just be the broken o2 sensor heater. So when I am home I put the k pro back in and turn it on to datalog and low and behold I still show P0010 AND the speedometer doesn't work. Well after jiggling some wires and throwin the stock and k pro ecu back and fourth a couple of times I realized that it is working fine with the stock ECU but not with K Pro. K Pro will run it but not the speedo and it throws the P0010 codes.

So. Could the scan process Acura uses have reset something about the speedometer in the ecu?

I think the problem with the speedo and code may be in the wire harness (that holds one damaged wire) and I was wondering if I could get a new one from Hondata?

If when I take it to the dealership and they fix the wires and the stock ecu shows no P0010 code (meaning the valve is not actually broken) but the K Pro does show the code and still has speedo problems will I be able to send it back to Hondata to get it fixed?

A recap: The K PRO ecu will still load and run but the speedo will not work and it throws the P0010 engine code. When the stock ecu is put back in the speedo problem goes away but there is still a check engine light that I can not tell if its on because of o2 sensor or P0010. With stock ecu in I DO NOT run in limp mode.

First you should try clearing security (erasing the ecu) by going to Online, Tools. Then uplaod the 05 calibration and make sure that the speedometer options have been properly selected before uploading it. If the problem still persists it sounds like you do in fact have a wiring problem with the car. You may have a wire that is making intermittent contact. You had said previously that even with the stock ecu the error codes persisted, so it it sounds like you have damaged a few wires and they need to be tested and fixed. If all the wiring checks out then the ecu can be looked at, but based on your description of events it sounds like damaged wiring in the car.

I will try to reload everything like you said and test it one more time. With the stock ecu the speedometer works and I don't run in limp mode so I can't tell if the CEL is from the o2 sensor heater malfunction that I have known about and just let it be or if it is P0010. I need to get the codes read while on the stock ecu. I am also going to go pick up some of that liquid stuff that you can put over damaged wires and see if i can knock it out just from coverinig the spots and hopefully eliminating any crossing signals.

Also. Is it possible that it is throwing that code but not affecting the engine?

I have no idea what you are talking about...you must use a multimeter and check continuity of the wires. There is no spray or liquid you can use to fix these wires.

You must check the codes with a stock ecu as well as with the K-Pro.

They are not torn up. Just the outer layer is peeled a little bit off of two of them. But they were very close together so I am guessing the signals were jumping so they make this liquid stuff that you just dab on it and it drys to seal off the broken area of the wire

the wires inside may have been torn apart though...you must check continuity and the error codes.
