p72 ECU prelude JDM h22a
p72 ECU prelude JDM h22a
I was told by my tuner that I could only use the USDM version of the p72 ECU is this true or can I use the JDM version. I have a MT '95 OBD I car.
I will be running the s200. Is the JDM ECU a p72j?
Thanks for any help.

jdm will work with the s200, but it must be a manual ecu. 72J is auto and junk... not convertable.

USDM it is. I do wonder why you would suggest the 300. I am N/A with a daily driver with no plans to go turbo, but would like to get as much out of my h22a as possible. I realize you are with Hondata and know all that system offers, but I have been told by your dealers that the 200 would be more than enough for my purpose. What more can I do with the 300 that would serve me that the 200 could not accomplish. Please give me as much info as you can! I want to make sure I buy right the first time.

I am not a tuner with a dyno, so I may really screw something up. Besides, after a good tuner who does it daily does his thing, how could I possibly improve on that as unfortunately, I have never changed oil before
For me self tuning probably would not be a good idea, although I am sure there is value in that for those who have the knowledge to self tune.
With that in mind, is there anything else that you could share in detail that would justify twice the price for me and my application specifically?
Thanks again,
Bobby

the s300 datalogging provides great feedback and is far superior to that in the s200. i can't overstate the usefulness of great datalogging.
the s300 also has additional tuning tables that enable more control for the tuner.
but if you are truly a hands-off owner then the s200 or even the s100 may be right for you.

No! Don't get me wrong, I don't have the experience now, but would like to learn. I fact I would like to have enough knowledge to take care of most anything that goes wrong or at least know what it is so that a shop can't screw me. Does'nt the 200 have data logging?
S200features:
Speed limiter removed (if applicable).
Tunable fuel and ignition tables.
Expanded fuel & ignition tables for boost.
Expanded rpm fuel & ignition tables.
A/C cutout.
Shift light.
VTEC control.
Adjustable rev limiter.
Launch control.
Full throttle shift.
Nitrous Control
Datalogging with HondaLogger software.
Datalogging with Palmlog software
ROM Editor tuning software.
I'm not trying to convince to consign on the s200, just trying to justify double the cost. I am new at this so I don't know enough to know the value. That's why I am asking.
Thanks everyone for the information. keep it coming.
