what are the advantages of obd1 over obd2?

OBD1 you can use a Hondata and you have the ability to fully tune the car. OBD2 has none of these options.

OBD2 has all the good stuff of OBD1 but with the bonus of a built in granny. :) (i.e. the secondary O2 sensor to make sure your catalytic converter is working properly, or is there at all)

Also, as mentioned before, you can use a Hondata with OBD1.

If your goal is to make sure you minimize emmissions from the tailpipe, the OBD2 is the way to go, but I'm guessing thats not likely.
