Installed and running... but funny idle...

The setup:

1988 crx si

converted to obd1 courtesy of kenji's conversion harness

JDM b18cR motor, fuel pressure at 50psi on dsm 450 injectors...

hondata p28 (supposedly stage 3 with a jun??? program...?)

Idle is not stable. It fluctuates from 1k to 2k cyclically once warm. Car doesn't shut off. Someone told me that this was a bug for older hondata setups, and could be remedied by some minor tuning... I thought it might be iacv for fast idle cv...

Someone told me I'd be able to tell by looking at that little finned box that plugs into the ecu... it has a sticker that says hondata, says the website addy, and a number: 2nn784

What do I have, and what's wrong?

My buddy has stage 4, and couldn't get it to link to his laptop... I take it we don't have datalogging? :(

Injectors

1. DSR 450cc injectors do not work. The impedence is incorrect and the fuel will not be metered accurately. Starting and part throttle tuning is very difficult with these injectors.
2. Idle problem is because the idle it too high and the fuel overrun cutoff is operating at 1800 rpm. Unplug the idle valve and reduce the airbypass until the idle is below 650 rpm.

.....the injectors seem to be working fine, but what do I know? Startups are always a simple flick of the key. No problems (knock on wood).

I checked under the hood today for the first time since installation.

I take it I have the old stage 2, no boost, no datalogging.....

As for the idle, I noticed the tps was loose, so I tightened it up. If I turn it cw, it has the erratic idle back and forth from 1100 to 1800... If it turn it a little bit ccw, it idles rock solid at 2100... No in between...

Anything else you'd suggest?

you need to measure the voltage in the tps .5 volts closed 4.5 volts wot.

also unplug the iac and turn the screw CW until the car idles at 650 rpm.. pretty low. then plug it back in. the TPS voltage will be key though

Ken...I had a similar problem with a fluctuating idle while using the Hondata, we reduced the Idle Air Control duty cycle.

sorry to bump, but got a resulution to the issue and never posted.....

it ended up being a hole in the gasket for the throttlebody. :?

we replaced the gasket and everything was fine once we calibrated the tps.

thanks hondata! :)
