Gear Compensation.

What effect would changing the Gear Compensation have on my current setup?
I?m driving a JDM type R and I noticed yesterday when I got home from the tuner that I have a gear setup from the RSX,
Ignition is set all 0s
Fuel is to all set 0s
Gear ratios where set to the RSX
Should I set to JDM or does it even make a difference
