When starting my car up today, the engine check light remained illuminated, and the following Error Code was highlighted in Kmanager.
Daughter Board Communication Error.
The car is a 2002 Euro CTR / K20A2.
Running the Civic Type-R factory calibration.
Mods inc. Spoon N1 cat-back / Mugen Airbox.
Thanks for any advice,
Andy.

I've had this exact same issue occasionally a couple of times with '04 K20A2 Euro Type-R when the weather was really cold. Probably bad connection between ECU and KPRO? Hasn't happened now for months though.

I've gotten this a few times now- I'm going to check again for loose wires today- it's quite annoying, but goes away after I restart the car- Hondata guys, any input? Mark W. (K20A3 Civic Si by the way)

Just to add, the USB was not connected to the ECU when the engine check light illuminated, and it has not been for some weeks. It is only connected when uploading calibrations, or datalogging.

Try clearing security and uploading the calibration again.

Could you advice how to clear security ?
Any ideas why this would have happened in the 1st place, as the calibration was working fine for a few weeks before this error occured ?
Cheers,
Andy.

Typically the cause is the KPro board coming loose, the soldering of the pins into the ECU or the soldering of the two jumper wires on the bottom of the ECU. Sometimes these problems do not occur immediately until either vibration or colder temperatures results in an intermittent connection.

Thanks,
Can you confirm if this is covered under warranty ? Is it an easy fix ?
This was bought via a distributor in the UK.
Cheers,
Andy.

Howdy, I called in with the same problem today. I was leaving work and hit clear security, and then I got the warning about only do this if I know what it does, and I didn;t so I cleared the Daughterboard communication Cel and drove home. It will come back on tomorrow morning, but could you please explain what this does, as I couldn;t find any mention of it in the pdf (searched for security...)
thanks again

Who did the install?
please explain what this does
I'll update the help. It is OK to clear security but make sure you have the calibration on the laptop first, as you will not be able to download the calibration afterwards (not that you should be anyhow). After clearing security, upload the calibration.

I have had this as well along with irradict idle, it started shotly after installing ESMM which made the car shake alot, I cleared security as advised when i called hondata and re-uploaded, but still have an irradict idle, has anyone else had an orradict idle in conjunction with this issue?

Mr bossman, you have major issues with the engine swap wiring in your vehicle. Trying to troubleshoot the symphons without finding the cause of the problems is not going to work. Get the helms manual and the swap wiring diagram on our website, and go through every single circuit, especially the main relay wiring and grounds.
