Range of the stock map sensor on k series engines

What is the range of the map sensor on the various k series engines? I heard somone say that the factory sensor does NOT see boost. I can't understand how this can be the case if you simply relocate the map sensor for some of the supercharger kits, not replace it. I was under the impression that it could see upwards of 11 pounds before you had to switch to a 3 bar sensor.
