Does compression ratio affect base tunes?

Does the compression ratio affect base calibrations? If it does, what would be necessary to change to make the base tune work. Example: 8.5:1 using a revhard55010psi base tune.

Yes, lower compression is a direct influence on the response to the base calibration. Not to say you could'nt start with that basemap in your example, in fact I think you would be safer if anything. I imagine your timing would be off intially, but I dont know 100%

hope this helps,

Evan

If the timing was off, would I advance or retard it?

The lower the compression, the more timing advance you need.

thank you very much. If I had a base tune and it was done on say 9.8:1, should I advance it like 2 or 3 degrees across the board for it to work better with my setup? So if it said 16 to start with I'd put in 18 or 19, etc? Just wanna make sure, thats all.
