Quick question or maybe 2...

Post by DC5RK20A »

OK, well my engine is all back together after a lengthy 7 month span of 2 rebuilds all covered under warranty. I will be selling my IPS cams, as Honda did not reinstall them on the 2nd rebuild, instead they are supplying new ITR bumpsticks. They are worried about the aftermarket aspect even though they installed them for me on the 1st rebuild.

Anyways that is all off topic from what I want to ask. Now that I have KPro, I will be utilizing the K20A2 kal mapped for the ITR cams. My question is, since I have an actual K20A and my compression is a bit higher normally and I have a Mugen headgasket to bump it even a bit more, should I, if I understand this right, be retarding the ignition timing from the basemap settings across all of the cam profiles? Here is my dilemna, I don't have any dyno to tune on and will be relying on my ass driving around on the streets. I know also with my mods, the program is still not going to be just, as I have a GruppeM intake and my exmani is a Toda. Any help somebody can provide will be much appreciated. And by chance any of you who are running an actual K20A with a Toda mani and have a nice tuned kal, would you be so kind as to send it my way.

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris, glad to see everything is up and workin', I have a pretty similar set-up, toda race header, injen CAI, 3" custom exhaust with magnaflow axel back, and of course k-pro with the k20a, I'm currently running the fuel tables for the Toda Race header KAL, as well as the IGN Maps from the (ITR CAMS JRRH CAI 310cc....) I had to do some datalogging part throttle for knock, I started off with a whole hell ah knock from 2000-4000rpms, I did have to pull from 4deg up to 10 deg!! in some areas, for some reason the 3000 rpm was really giving me trouble to get rid of the knock, at part throttle the engine usually runs on 30 or 40 deg cam angles anyways, so I tuned those angles the most, I got my WOT tune directly from DOUG @hondata, put down 230whp. Neways let me know how things go, I'm always eager to learn as well.

Good idea...

I should of thought about that. Just copy the fuel tables from the Toda .kal and mix them up with the IGN tables and create a new map. Will do this now.

Thanks for that suggestion. Would you be willing to send me your current map for me to run and see what it runs like. I should be running in 2 days. I better be. hahaha

No prob, I'm still working at it a bit, I'll try to e-mail it to u by tommorow, as u know I'm always on ephatch, send me a PM there if u like. I just realized that my ign maps might be a bit to conservative for u since ur running a higher octance than we do, I tune mine on 94, if I'm not mistaken u guys run, 98RON and up, now I know the measurement for octane between RON and our gas is bit different. what is that equivalent for us?
