s2000 won't accelaerate past 3000 rpm????

Working on a 2000 S2000. Check engine light is on. When rpm hit 3000, gas pedal just dead. Any ideas?? Any help appreciated.

My first though is that you should find out what the error code is and follow the Helms manual for that code.

We have hooked up a computer, the only code we are getting is P1609. Which led us to believe it is ECU. But wanted to try everything before installing new ECU. Thank you for your replay!
