Knock Sensor and IACV.. Are they realted?

Post by speedtribe11 »

My ride is a 93 eg civic sedan. i have an engine swap. its now a 1st generation (EF) B16A JDM. I have several problems guys. Here it goes:

1. I have a problem with the Knock Sensor. The trouble code is 23. It turs on the dash and in the ECU whenever I drive hard. I have a haynes manual book here. I just wnna know if there would be a serious problem when in the future (i hope not) if i dont repair this problem at once?

2. When I had the engine swap, the idle is so rough whenever there's no airconditioning. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor. I got the TPS from my old engine which is a SOCH Non-Vtec. Is the TPS of B16A same as the TPS of my old engine? Right now I'm using the TPS of my old engine. Its not rough anymore without airconditioning..but the idle is not that steady as I am expecting. Should i replace the gasket of the throttle body? Plus when I turn on the airconditioning, the idle drops down to 300rpm!!! Does the Idle Air Control Valve have something to do with this problem? But there's no trouble code saying that it has a problem.

3. My fuel consumption is unbearable! When I have to warm up the engine in the morning, it consumes like 2 to 3 liters to get to the normal operating temperature. Is it because of Item # 2?

4. We have a Hondata dealer here in the Philippines. If ever I'm gonna have my ECU upgraded by Hondata, will I be saving fuel and have the perfect idle? My freind has tha same engine and set-up as mine. He installed a generic chip but with a spoon program. After that, he gained some power and fuel became lean. He can now drive 50 km with 5 to 7 liters of fuel in his tank.

I attatched a pic of the engine and my ride.

Racing here in the Phillipines is graetly expanding!=) Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated! THANKS AND MORE HORSEPOWER!!!

first test your tps voltage. since you replaced the sensor there is a high probability that it is waaaay out of adjustment... maybe even broken internally if you are not familiar with the correct installation proceedure. Voltage should read .45-.5V with the key on and the engine not running.
