Car running WAY too RICH!

Post by Magnum »

I purchase the JRSC "race" version and got my ecu reflashed by you guys.

I have had the SC installed for approx 2 weeks and just last night my car died. I bought new NGK 8 spark plugs, checked all my hoses and harnesses. Ran a compression test.. 160 156 157 162.. and scanned my CEL and got 42 as a result:

Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater System Malfunction
Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) No Activity Detected
Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Signal Stuck Lean

I reset my ECU and started my car again... this time it ran somewhat well, with minor white smoke coming out of my exhaust.. I am actually DRIPPING FUEL out of my exhaust tip.

After this I checked all my fluids and there was no problem in levels, no coolant in my oil/oil in my coolant, but my dipstick smells like FUEL!

My car is running Extremely Rich.. I checked my grounds on my fuel rail, unwrapped my injector wires and inspected them for grounding out and got no results.

I brought my car to Acura today and they told me its probably my REFLASH!

WHATS GOING ON HONDATA!!??

My mods which MAY be relevant to the issue are as follows.
-JRSC 7psi Race kit
-AEM V2 intake
-AEM fuel rail
-RC 550cc injectors
-NKG ir8's

I need your expertise on this one.. plz.

Aaron.

Call us. It sounds like an injector is stuck open. Don't drive the car.

Either your O2 sensor has failed or you have a dead or stuck injector. YoOu may want to contact RC and talk to them about sending in your injectors for testing.

If you ran the car like this too long, it may have washed the cylinders and contaiminated your oil.

the series of events probably happened like this:
injector becomes stuck or is dead
O2 sensor detects a lean condition and adds additional fuel to compensate
since it is only running on 3 cylinders it is just flodding the remaining 3 cylinders with fuel thus washign the bores down
The rings and or bore are now scuffed and fuel is getting past the rings and contaminating your oil.

Good the hear everything is working. We still believe that it was an injector. If you see any signs of the same thing happening, stop driving the car, and test the injectors to see if one is stuck open. You have to be careful because even a slight tap will release the injector and it will work normally again.
