I am having a problem with the hondata in my car. This is what i have done.

I have the s200 with boost, obd2a to obd1 harness.

I have installed the chip and the jumpers as instructed in the manual online but the problem that I am having is that once i turn the ignition to the on position the red light flashes slowly inside the s200, the check engine light is turned on and doesnt go out Plus i hear a weird humming noise coming from the back of the intake manifold.

I have a 97 civic ex d16y8 motor.
I have taken a picture of the ecu with the epprom installed and the jumpers/resistors installed.

Please someone Help me

Here is the picture http://home.comcast.net/~mytsun/ecu.jpg

Might want to check R54 and J1, they look a little fun on your picture.

Also, took this from the Hondata S200 Manual

The interface box LED is flashing slowly

The problem lies with the Hondata interface box not being able to communicate with the ECU. Possible causes for this problem:

? Incorrect ROM used for the ECU.
? ROM inserted the wrong way around.

Maybe this will help you out.

The soldering on the ecu may also need to be gone over to ensure that all the solder joints are good.

Cool Ill trying going over the solder points again and make sure everything is in contact. but for the rom Im pretty sure thats it the right way because there was an outline of the position of the 28 pin socket and i just inserted the rom in the same outline with the notch matching. but i guess it would be the wrong rom but I thought all the roms would be the same just different settings like injectors and ignition settings

well it looks like its still not working....I just went over all my solder points and recheck most points on the rom with a multimeter and Im still getting a communication error between the ecu and hondata blue box. Im afraid that if i flip the rom chip it will burn it out or erase the rom. if ne one can assist me with this that would be great.

PS I havent taken to get it tuned yet i just bought it from a friend. He also never got it installed so im wondering if the rom even has any information on it at all.

thanks

Who provded your basemap? You may have a blank chip.

Thanks for the help...The person that bought the hondata first sounds like he didnt get a basemap for the eeprom. He ordered it from wiredspeedlab so probably didnt have a basemap.
