Little advice and help please.

Post by DC5RK20A »

Ok my setup will be the following, GruppeM intake, Toda exmani, Amuse R1, IPS K2 cams, Mugen headgasket, PE 510cc injectors and K-Pro.

My question(s), using the IPS map supplied with K-Pro now, I notice it was tuned with the DC exmani, and when I look at the Crower setup it was tuned with the Toda exmani, I plan on lowering VTEC to around 4900 from the 5550 setup with the IPS map since it seems with the Toda pairing of the primaries it likes a lower VTEC engagement. What should I be looking to do with fueling and ignition with this change? Also, with me having a K20A and the Mugen headgasket raising compression to around 11.9:1, about how much ignition retard should I be looking at and should I retard all columns or just specific ones on both low-speed and high-speed or just on the high-speed? Also my fuel here in Japan is a bit better than what is available stateside, with 100RON being about 95-96 octane stateside I believe. How will this come into play?

I know it will be hard to answer correctly, but some guidance would be much appreciated as I have no dyno to tune on here, yes Okinawa is TINY!!! I have copied all the data from the IPS map and the Crower map and compiled into one Excel workbook and was thinking of disecting the numbers between the 2 and averaging them out. Just don't think this is really going to be a good solution and may just cause me headaches.

PLEASE HELP, I am desperate as well as new to tuning. I've tuned my old VAFC and VAFC2, by feel and was able to extract faster times measured by the Rev/Speed meter, just the K-Pro is so much more complex and I don't want to screw anything up.

Thanks in advance,
Chris
