Whats up fellas, im patiently waiting to recieve my ecu back from you guys (HONDATA). Ive been doing as much homework on k-pro as i can. i have a k20a3 (si) with I/RH/E/TB/ and ITR IM. I had the re-flash before. Im guessing ill run the "93 octane" calabration for now and start tweaking from there huh? K-pro does not come with a3 re-flash calibration correct?
i just want to get a few things cleared up.
If i do use the a3 high octane calibration, i heard the redline on that is set to 7300 rpm. but the reason for that low of rpm is because of the rsx a3 intake manifold. Since i have an a3 (si) with the ITR intake manifold i would want to raise redline to 7800 like the re-flash i previously had. My question is, As soon as i get my k-pro...If i were to use the a3 high octane calibration could i just raise the rev limiter without adjusting the cam angle/ignition timing/ and air fuel settings for the 7300-7800 rpm range?
Sorry for the newb question's.

New to k-pro.
thanx but you really didnt answer my question about the calibration issue.Hondata wrote:Don't rev the K20A3 over 7500 rpm - the rods can't handle any higher. In any case I think you'd be past peak power. The a3 calibration will work to 8000 rpm.
ps: im using itr intake manifold i wouldnt be past peak power at 7500 rpm.
anyway about the rod issue...
IMO, If the stock a3 rods can handle 10 psi daily driven, which people have been doing without a problem for a while now. they will be able to hold 7800 rpm every now and then.
doesnt the re-flash bump you up to 7700-7800 rpm anyway?
I currently have an a2 head thats waiting on getting machined. i have all the valvetrain upgraded except for cams. (s2k Valvesprings, Skunk retainers, high comp valves).
im going to be using that a2 head on stock a3 block with a higher compression headgasket. i was planning on reving to 7800 which im still most likley going to do unless i get some hard info that the rods are really that weak. I had the re-flash for about 8 months under the impression i was reving the motor to 7800 rpm and i havnt had a problem.

For the past 8 months my motor has taken 7800 rpm without a problem. im confident enough to keep reving my motor that high. since not 1 person here was able to answer any of the questions i went ahead and called hondata, he told me i would be able to bump rev limiter to 7800 without having to change any settings on fuel, ignition timing, or cam angle from the rpm's 7300-7800. Although ill probably run the 93 octane calibration for a while with the set 7300 rev limit, untill i have time to bump up the rev limiter and fine tune everything.CivicVTi wrote:Just because stock rods can handle some boost does not mean they can handle high rpm. The loads in both cases are of a completely different source.
