Hallo,
i have a small question about the ignition timing.
normaly you have a higher advance at lower map pressure and a lower ignition at
boost (boost retard).
a few days ago i had a car that runs with 100 Ocatne fuel and 10psi boost... because
of the high octane we could rise the ignition advance very much so that we got higher
ignition values in the translation area (about 1000mbar absolute pressure) then in the
area below that map value...
i.e. 800mbar = 27? -> 900mbar = 28? -> 1000mbar = 32? -> 1100mbar = 31? -> 1200mbar = 30?
advance values are fictive.
now my question...
is it secure to rise the values below 1000mbar also to 32? or is there a chance of detonation
if i do this...
what would you do with such a ignition map?
- rise the advance below top advance?
- make a smooth rise below top advance to get a smooth translation and then flat out after top advance in boost?
- something complete different?
Thanks
