Plug Gap Question for K20A2

Post by EPiK »

I tried using the search function, and it wasn't bringing back any results despite finding a couple of posts (for other engines) involving spark plug gap, so I apologize if this is a question that has been covered in another thread.

We have a 2002 RSX Type S that we're tuning later today with a K-Pro. The car is running RC 550's and a T04B turbo with a custom kit with all the supporting mods including a FMIC. Car will be running about 8 PSI of boost. We are targetting about 270 to the wheels when we hit the dyno tonight.

Plugs are the stock IFR7G11K specification plugs, according to NGK they are to be gapped at .044.

Anyone have any recommendations on whether we should keep the plugs gapped at stock, or change them?

Alternate plug suggestions and gapping would also be appreciated.

Thanks

The 11 in the part number means that the plug is pre-gapped to 1.1 mm ~ 0.044"

At 8 lbs you may be fine with the stock gap, but if you get an misfires then reduce the plug gap to around 0.032 You can make the gap smaller if you need to (0.024), but should not need to at 8 lbs boost.
