KMS valve springs
KMS valve springs
Are the KMS forged valve springs good for my k20a2 with type r cams or are they only good for turbo apps?
Valve Springs
"Forged" valve springs? I'd like to see the forging die to make a spring. Springs are generally wound from wire stock ...
Turbo or not, the valve springs are really only influenced by rpm. Ask KMS what the pressue is over the nose assuming 12.5mm intake and 11.5 exhaust lift at the cam. A hint: seat pressure is not actually pressure, but a force, so psi is not the correct unit. Much over 225 lbs over the nose and you'll wear the cam caps. Also ask what harmonics develop at what rpms, and to what degree, and at what point the valve will float.
Once you have that information you can then evaluate the springs for your application. For type R cams, just stick to the Honda valve springs (single yellow intake, double red, double blue or single blue exhausts), and you'll be good to 9200 rpm.
