Civic ECU versions

Post by apolune »

Before today, I didn't know an ECU from emu. This morning, mine died (my ecu; I don't have an emu).
I know this much:
I have a 92 Honda Civic Dx 1.5L manual transmission.
The dead ECU is a #37820-P06-A00.
I nearly choked when I found out how much a new one from a dealer costs.
I'm seeing very similar used or remanufactured ones on eBay (A01 and A02) for a lot less.

I've read that the last digit is a revision or version number. But what does that mean? Can I drop in an A01, A02, etc. without modification? If not, how much modification is required?

Thanks!

in general the revision refers to the year as well. for the po6 my experience (which is pretty big) is that any 5-speed version will do and pass smog testing.

what is wrong with yours? it may be easily repaired.
