REQUEST: FPM Wiki hosted by Hondata?

Post by jeffx »

Just a suggestion, would Hondata consider hosting a wiki for FlashPro manager? I know there's a pretty comprehensive set of documents built into the app but a lot of new tables and stuff (especially for the FK8/FL5/DE5) are scarcely documented - sometimes if you're lucky you can find a mention of them in "what's new" notes but going through those isn't exactly convenient.

I would like to see a single source of truth, fact-checked by Hondata to explain the tables and parameters, what the values and axes represent (it's not always obvious on FlashPro Manager), perhaps containing some simple guidelines on the typical range of values as a sanity check. Much of the content can be community-generated and of course if anything is wrong or incomplete, then Hondata staff can fill in the gaps or correct whatever is necessary. I think it would be a very helpful resource for all Flashpro Manager users.

There is useful information to be found in the forums but it's not always easy to locate it.

thank you for all of your efforts, and I hope you consider this request.

We discussed this and don't have the resources to implement right now. We also would rather information went into the help file as I feel that with a wiki we would end up doing a lot of editing.

I remember Kefi had an FK8 wiki at one point, which did include some good explanations - However, I am not sure if it's still live.

I wouldn't mind hosting such a site, but getting the content is a bit of a challenge...

I do agree that some of the niche features, tables and mods could use a little more documentation, especially for the novice tuner - Some general explanation of the impacts and risks of changing values would be great, but there is the perspective that you're giving said novice tuner 'enough rope to hang themselves with' if it leads to the semi-informed blowing up engines.
