p0101 error in MAP tuning only
Is there some kind of hint to know when exactly this happens under MAP tuning? I've swapped ECU's, I've changed throttle bodies like 6 times now, even the throttle body gaskets, over 50 different calibrations and all sorts of combinations in between but I'm just at a loss here.
How come when I have AFM checked, and test drive it around, no matter what calibration (stock Si, or stock Si tuned, as an example) I never get the P0101 error which states it's a Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance.
However the moment I uncheck that, and use MAP tuned it gives this error even during city driving? And I'm using the stock calibrations too and it does this.
I don't want to disable this in extras because it only masks the underlying problem. And I've tried stock Si throttle body, TSX throttle body, J35 accord throttle body and each time during normal city driving it pops up. In datalog I can see when it pops up. But the graph looks normal. Can anyone please examine my datalog and see if I'm crazy or... stupid?
Desperate, and thank you.
KC
P.S. Here is my calibration for 2007-2011 Honda Civic 8th Gen Si Tuned and a datalog when I'm driving from the gas station (premium gas) to home.
At exactly 3 minutes, 5 seconds point 141s is when the P0101 error code pops up.
P.P.S - I've cleaned and checked and double checked the MAF sensor a dozen times. Made sure it's secured into the hole with the 2 screws tight. cable and wires connected. No loose wiring, no separated pins, nothing. Reset DTC codes all the time, through Foxwell, through Flashpro, through HDS, and even disconnected the battery. Still stumped.

What intake are you using?
Do you still have the MAF plugged in?

Hi spunkster,
I’m using OEM intake tube and airbox.
And yes, the MAF sensor is still plugged in.

What happens if you leave the AFM enabled as well?

Re: p0101 error in MAP tuning only
It works fine. It would just be in hybrid mode that's all, but I don't want to do that. In fact I want to do the AFM removal mod from Flashpro's Help section here:What happens if you leave the AFM enabled as well?
https://www.hondata.com/help/flashpro/i ... emoval.htm
so I want to strictly be in MAP based only.
You want to know what's odd?
When I use mucter's calibration, he is using an FD2 calibration, yet I never get the P0101 error even though it's using MAP based. But it's missing a TON of information such:
*In the Fuel section -> AFM fuel values *In the Throttle section -> Maximum Plate deviation (P2101) and
Throttle Flow vs Opening (right below maximum plate deviation)
However in a normal Civic Si calibrations, all those values are viewable.
So what I did to test was copy ALL values from mucter's FD2 calibration (the one that's not P0101 causing) and copied as much as I could in every viewable section, from Fuel tables LOW/HI, 0-40 degrees, Cam angles, ignition tables, Low HIGH and all degrees etc... everything except for these 3 tables that's not present in the FD2 section to a Civic Si calibration. And lo and behold I get a P0101 error in that Civic Si calibration even though all the data I could copy is exactly the same.
Is there anyway you can ask Hondata if he can provide those 3 missing table values for a stock FD2? I forgot to mention I am using an FD2 oem intake tube but the oem airbox is a stock Si. (unfortunately I don't have an Si intake tube anymore)
I have a feeling I'm probably getting this P0101 air error because maybe the air flow is different? But then how would a less feature FD2 calibration in MAP tuning know all these values and not throw a P0101 error code if it's not viewable at all/present?

Re: p0101 error in MAP tuning only
I thought of something. I just saw this help section page here.
</br>
If I'm in MAP tuning does this section 'Tuning Air Flow' still require tuning as well? If so... I'll try to tune it.
From my P0101 error datalog I posted. I got this XYgraph
</br>
Could this be the P0101 culprit that needs adjusting?

Re: p0101 error in MAP tuning only
This morning I did an exhaustive redo. If tl;dr I apologize in advance and I'll say all 3 AFM based tuning test drives for 20-25 minutes yielded no P0101 error codes or other errors. When I change to MAP based, even with Air Flow updated values I get P0101 Error code in just a couple minutes of driving.
This is the same 2nd calibration (2007-2011) Honda Civic Si Stock, tuned calibration in default AFM enabled.
Went for a 20-25 minute test drive normal driving and came back. Enabled XY graph. I adjusted the -5% S.Trim in idle. I ended up with this:
<br> I saved this calibration. Then wanted to adjust the AFM Flow by checkmarking Active Fuel Tuning located in Sensors -> AFM. Test drove the same route 20-25 minutes came back. Then turned off my ignition. When I clicked "Update Active Tuning Table" box next to it, I saw all the Mass Flow (g/s) values turn to zero. I said, "uh oh". I turned my ignition to ON. And then when I clicked on the box again, I saw the entire row populate. Some were green, some red. Saved this calibration to a different file. Just to be sure, I deleted the current calibration in FlashPro, reloaded the calibration that was just saved, and clicked UP arrow to upload to ECU. Test drove the 3rd time, same route, 20-25 minutes, came back and opened XY graph and got this.
<br> I decided to take my laptop in and check for any value difference during this update. Fuel tables were the same values, Closed Loop values were the same, Lambda section table values were the same, Throttle section table values were the same. The only difference were the AFM Flow tables in Sensors -> AFM. Making sure to double check any Error Codes I didn't get any, including the P0101 Error. Also before loading each calibration, I Clear DTC's just in case.
This 4th time I copy and pasted the newly adjusted AFM Flow (Mass Flow g/s) values to a fresh 2nd calibration (Si stock, tuned) and this time unchecked AFM enabled and checked MAP Fuel Tables and saved to a new file. Deleted the current loaded calibration in Flashpro just in case, reloaded the saved 2nd calibration and cleared DTCs and uploaded. Started the car, waited for idle and went for a test drive. Just couple minutes in while going from 3rd to 4th gear, P0101 Error shows. Drove home and saved datalog.
This last time, I decided to dial in the Ignition Dead Times FIRST since S.Trim was above 15% during idle. When I got it to -1% S.Trim I went out for a test drive again, and again couple minutes P0101 occurs.
Here's my last two saved datalogs in MAP Fuel based tuning where the P0101 Error code happens. I'm still not sure what I'm doing terribly wrong in MAP based tuning? Please help.
P.S. I finally found out when in MAP based, AFM fuel and AFM flow values won't matter.
