Question about the hondata flashpro help

Hey everyone, I just picked up a 2012 Civic Si and I’m starting to suspect the car might not be fully stock. When I give it gas in neutral, the RPMs go all the way up to 7000, which I’ve heard shouldn’t happen on a stock ECU since there’s usually a rev limit around 5000 in neutral. This makes me think the car might already be tuned. I was planning to buy a Hondata FlashPro, but I’m worried that if the ECU is already paired to someone else’s FlashPro, I won’t be able to use a new one unless the ECU is unlocked — which I can’t do myself. I’m very new to this and really excited to start tuning, so I’m wondering: if the ECU is locked, what are my options? Can I swap in a new ECU, or is there a workaround? Any advice from others who ran into this when starting out would be awesome.

There is no way of knowing what it has been tuned with. You will have to try using the new FlashPro with it and see what it says.

Thank you for the reply, interesting, because that’s the only thing with the RPM’s that seem not stock, other then that everything in the car came original. Only thing is I’m wondering if When i get a hondata flashpro would it not connect to it or like you said we’ll have to test and see what it says?
