CARB Status

Quick question on the 2016-2021 CARB tunes. When the CARB number is looked up on the Air Resource Board's website, their letter says CARB certification only applies to 2017-2020 Civics. If someone has a 2016 or a 2021 Civic and is running a CARB flash, would they fail the smog test since their car (2016 or 2021) falls outside of the 2017-2020 CARB certification window?

Only the models and years listed in the EO are carb approved. But I have not heard of a vehicle being failed for that reason.
We have requests in to fix mistakes in the EOs that carb issued, as well as updating the model years, but it can take years for carb to issue a new eo. Logic tells us that if the 2021 Civic is the same as the 2020 Civic emissions wise it should be covered, but the wheel of bureaucracy turn very slowly.

Got it. I also agree that there is no reason a 2021 would differ from a 2020 on emissions equipment, but I wasn't sure how strict smog stations are in comparing CARB EO coverage vs. what car they're actually smogging. Didn't know if they would see the car had a tune, look at the CARB EO sticker, and then say, "Well, this only goes up to 2020, but your car is a 2021. This is a fail as it's not technically CARB approved."
