Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
Hello, this is my first time posting long time lurker needing some advice or direction. B18 ported head with b20 block. Stock bottom end with Civic Type R cams, aem cam gears, supertec springs and retainers LSV conversion. I was working with a known tuner for a while when i came across this issue, now he left me with no response. I was having a large jolting on any acceleration outside of vtec range. Bought a replacement distributor i have on the side at the moment, new spark plug wires, fuel filter, injectors, and i checked my tps sensor for full range of motion. Ive put everything back to original parts other than filter and wires. I have tried a couple times to time my distributor but it will run for 30 seconds before timing rises to 20ish. My Final point i had seen was my injector dead time was much larger than normal at about 3ms. I have also redone my timing to insure im not off somewhere. Please let me know what other info i can give.

Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
How exactly are you attempting to set the timing?

Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
I'm setting timing by going into the s300 and adjusting that timing to 16 degrees. Go ahead and start the car, using my timing light I'm looking for the red mark in the middle on the balancer and trying to align it to the best I can. But after a little time it changes again
Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
You must go to the online menu and choose the option to set timing as that will lock the timing at what is specified, then you must adjust the distributor to match that with a dial back timing light.

Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
I believed that was what I was doing. The little drop down menu in the s300 isn't that it? And I didn't use a dial back timing light i only have a basic one
Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
The timing numbers in the high cam look like someone jut set them all to the same number so you may need to find a new tuner to get this tuned properly.

Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
Well that's my problem the tuner barely did shit and wore tf out of my cams. Would I be able to upload a base map and fix those values myself? I understand timing will have to be 100% proper at that point. I want to at least get it to a map that works so I can get it tuned and dynod
Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
You can always try other calibrations, but it will need to be properly tuned to run safely.
Re: Bogging/ Hesitation on startup
Try this, I zeroed out the boost tables and anything in the high cam map before vtec "4500" really don't matter.

I have yet to try the tune just yet. Potentially stupid question should i time ignition with an open loop tune or closed loop?
