Battery ground and VTC

Hey Hondata,

Just out of curiosity before i move my battery back. I relocated the battery to the trunk. Yes i understand that’s a No No. But the car starts and runs fine except for the VTC. It doesn’t follow the camcmd and stays at 0 or -1. I tried my ecu in a known working vehicle and it works correctly. I have all the correct grounds in the engine bay. Tried and tested different VTC solenoids. I have decent oil pressure 30 plus when warm. VTC screen is clean. Gear is new. Oil does enter the gear. It’ll rattle at times while under load. So my main question is can there be a possibility my battery ground in the trunk can be good enough for everything else to work but cause issues with the VTC?

Thanks.

It’s an older wireworx harness. To the best of my knowledge it’s 02-04 rsx. The connectors on the ECU of the harness matches the pinouts for the 02-04 rsx.

I’m not 100% for sure. All I have is a video of the first start years ago when it’s moving in K pro. But i had a vacuum leak at the time. Only reason i started to speculate the battery location was because at first start up, when it seemed to be working, the battery was up front. Since i relocated it to the back it hasn’t moved.

It is most likely not related to the battery.

Okay. Well i appreciate the help anyway. I’ll probably check some other things and if nothing changes. I’ll just disable or delete it.
