j12 question

has anyone had a car lope during idling by not cutting j12 on a p28 when using an s200?

i was under the impression that that jumper did not affect a cars fuel or timing just the datalogging and romulator connection.

i had a car tuning session today where cutting j12 took away the poor idle quality in a prelude.
