ECU Socketing - tools

Post by TurboPreludeSi »

What specific tools are you guys using that do your own ECU socketing for hondata? I've never socketed an ecu and I figure I'd give it a try.

I know the process and you need a desoldering tip, soldering iron, and a sucker as well as a certain type of solder. I just don't know which brands I should go with and what not.

Thanks for the help.

I have a Hakko 926 Soldering station and have used desoldering braid...or you can buy a hella expensive desoldering iron. Spools of solder in all sizes can be obtained from Radio Shack. I picked up my soldering station on eBay for $60. Be sure to get like a 900 series iron tip or something really small.
