Ignition Off problem/troubleshooting

Post by Liam.Kohl »

Hello everyone,

I am getting close to having my first K-swap up and running. I received my KPro v4 in the mail from HA Motorsports two days ago and was hoping to get my car running yesterday. I swapped a JDM K24A into my 95 del sol using a Jackspania tucked engine harness (this may be my problem) and a hybrid racing conversion harness. Before plugging in the ECU, I checked all of my wiring/grounds to ensure they were good connections and that I had continuity at each one. I followed Hybrid Racings guide on installing the conversion harness by wiring E1 to A7, E15 to D10, and E31 to A13. With the ignition off, I get no power to E1, E7 or E9. Once the ignition is switched on, I get power to E9 and E7, and get 6V to E1. I also checked to make sure that I get poewr to c101-9, c101-14 and c101-20. I also switched my ignition on and cranked the car before plugging in the ECU. Car cranks fine, main relay clicks and dash lights come on etc. When I plug in the ECU and put the key in the "on" position, no lights come on. However, when I plug in my laptop, with the ignition on, KManager says "Ignition Off". Upon plugging it in, the green LED blinks once followed by a bright flash of the red LED which then continues blinking very dim. I have all of the recommended grounds in the engine bay, one from the corner of the valve cover to the passenger strut tower, one from the timing cover to the same place, one on the back side of the transmission to the driver strut tower and one from the front of the transmission to the radiator support. The only ground that is missing that I mistakenly overlooked is my engine harness ground (there isn't one on my engine harness). I've read that KPRO is grounded through the engine harness (to the valve cover stud above the fuel injectors?). Would this be my issue? If so, how can I integrate a ground into my engine wiring harness to check if this is my issue? Thanks in advance!

I found my problem. For anyone who reads this in the future, check your grounds a seventh time if you need to. I went over my entire engine harness two more times and found the ground for the valve cover. Attached it and my issue was solved. Sometimes you just need to step away for a few hours, take a breath and get back at it the next day! Lol
