V4.0.9 (19 Apr 2023)
Please only reply to this thread with issues & questions specific to the changes in this release. For all other problems start a new thread under the appropriate vehicle category.
The FL5 starting calibrations 91 and 93 octane have been revised. The minimum MAP pressure has been reduced to prevent a P0234 DTC when overrun at high rpm caused the manifold vacuum to drop below 10 kPa. Also the Turbo Pressure Ratio PA tables have been tuned for different elevations.
The CTR pressure drop tables have been added to help understand how the ECU uses pressure ratio to limit turbo speed. Please do not just zero these tables without fully understanding how they are used on why they are present.
(Minor points: mass flow is g/s not mg, and the pressure is not related to the MAP).
For example, if the atmospheric pressure is 95 kPa, air flow is 270 g/s (typical of a FK8 at max power) and the pressure ratio tables (PA) at 3.0. Then the air pressure at the intake is 95 kPa. The air pressure at the compressor inlet is 81.7 kPa (95 kPa - 0.133 bar). The compressor discharge pressure is 245 kPa (3.0 x 87.1). The boost pressure is around 231 kPa (245 - 14). Since the ECU does not measure the pressure at the compressor inlet or outlet, it uses the boost pressure to limit the pressure ratio using the above tables from the model. Finally the manifold pressure is usually fairly close to the boost pressure. The pressure ratio limitation (PA) is important to prevent turbo over-speed and we would encourage people not to disable it because they don't understand it or that it makes tuning more difficult.
- Firmware updated to version 226
- [2015+ Civic Type R FL2/FK8/FL5] Added pressure drop tables for air filter and intercooler
- [2023+ Civic Type R FL5] Added support for Central America K12
