Turbo RSX Bucking/Stalling Datalog

Post by DC5.Shivy »

Hey all. So i have been an owner of my RSX for close to 6 years now. I recently drove my car right before the new year and had this issue recently where my car would buck/jerk and stall. All of these datalogs shows the bucking/jerking I am talking about. Test 6 Bucking" shows my car running fine until I pushed around 2lbs of boost, and then the car instantly starts jerking and "shutting off" (After 2 minutes and 30 seconds on that log). Test 7 and Test 8 shows the entire sequence of the car basically wanting to stall with constant bucking/jerking when trying to accelerate or decelerate. The car instantly dies and when trying to turn it back on, the tachometer stopped working and I have to give it gas to keep the car running. If my foot is off the throttle, the car stalls by itself. Can anyone guide me in the right direction. From what i can tell, the TPS is fine, and the AF is reading fine at 13-14 on my wideband, but i did notice the VSS dropping to 0mph every time the bucking occurred. Can the Speed sensor cause this issue with my car to make it buck and stall? Any help is greatly appreciated!

The TPS appears that it may be dropping. Is it reading correctly?

Hey Spunkster! So the TPS is reading fine. I noticed that my car electronics "reset" while driving, but my car was still running. My gauges and stereo turned off and turned right back on. I forgot to mention that I am running a smaller battery to keep it within the engine bay so I don't have to relocate it. I'm running subs, HID's and a few other electrical components to my battery as well so it's probably drawing too much power. I also did have a little drive, turned off the car for 10 minutes, and drove it after and it stalled but turned right back on. I did see within Test 8 that my voltage dropped below 12v under error codes tab. You can also see that my ECU had no power for a couple seconds since nothing in the log changed even though I was accelerating. My guess is the alternator failing. Or even crankshaft position sensor. Any insights?

It sounds like you have a battery/charging system issue. It could be related to relocating the battery as well.

Got it. I'll take a look at the connections and grounding, and test the battery and alternator. Appreciate the insight. I'll have more details after this weekend!
