S300 Smanager Security Password question

Post by LittleH »

Hello guys happy holidays and happy xmas.
We were wondering about the security password , because we were thinking of setting some anti-theft params.

We have registered 2 laptops in the same email but we noticed the following.
With internet connection we setup a password and required to use that to upload and when we tried that it didnt ask us for a password (we might have done something wrong with that though).

But the main issue is that , with lights on and laptop connected , we could download the program that was already loaded and see all the params , security params , closed loop / advanced , rev limits , etc ...

Is there anyway that even if someone connects via usb in the s300 , to not be able to download the already loaded program so he cannot see the params and such?

Or that isnt a thing yet and we should request it?

Or did we screw up the password thing and in a normal operation should be how I describe it with the security password?

The security password does not keep from downloading the calibration. It is there to prevent a new calibration from being uploaded to it. You can delete the stored calibration from the s300 and it will not be able to be downloaded then. This is not good as then the person cannot easily update the calibration when the software is updated.

So from my understanding I can make the calibration not downloadable from the ECU after it has being uploaded? Even on the same laptop or different ones?
If so , all that is happening through what option?

Basically my end goal here , is even if someone gets access , he can't upload or download whatever tune is uploaded to the s300 or see any of the params.

So for upload , security password check
for download , I can't seem to find where I can delete the calibration , also if I delete the stored calibration , the car will still work right?

Are you a tuner or the owner of the s300?

Both , its just our first time with the s300 , can send you my credentials to verify it , if you want.

We are more focused on our custom made ecus , but with this platform we decided it was easier to give it a shot.

You should not lock a customer's ECU with a password as then they are unable to update it for bug fixes or make any needed changes. The password is there for theft protection.

You can delete the stored calibration then no one can download the calibration to see it or make changes. You can also turn of the ability for it to store the calibration when uploading.

The s300 should be registered with the customers information and email so that they can reset the password in the future if they need to.
