Connectivity Issues

Hi All,

I am having issues with connecting my laptop to KProV4

2000 Honda S2000
K24a Swap:
Stock AP1 manifolds
Kpower Engine harness
Stage 2 Cam
Flexfuel Sensor
ID1050x Injectors

At the start it was mainly just my laptop connecting and disconnecting; it would connect than all of a sudden disconnect throwing an error code.

Now it just wont connect at all. It would throw this code everytime I connect my laptop:

"USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognized it".

I don't see a ground coming from the harness where the injectors are. Could this be an issue? I have 2 grounds connected to the Valve cover where the spark plugs are at.

You should try the ECU on a known working vehicle. If the problem persists, then the ECU/K-Pro has been damaged from improper wiring in your vehicle and this should be fixed before replacing the damaged ECU or K-Pro.

Unfortunately I dont have any friends near me with an s2000

Would I still be able to drive the car like this without any issues?

If the wiring is the problem an I fix the wiring would the connectivity issue be resolved?

If the Kpro is damaged what are my options?

I have attached the pics of the some of the grounds in the car.

I noticed that there are is no ground wire where the injectors are at. The engine harness ground I believe is shown in the pics where the spark plugs are at

Where else should I look for grounds?

Sorry I dont have much electrical knowledge.

What is the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

I Would have to take it out again and check. I will get back to you.

Would you be able to answer some of my questions above?

Thanks

The K-Pro has been replaced previously for being daamged. It sounds like there is a wiring problem with this vehicle. This is not a S2000 K-Pro setup that we sell. You should try to find someone locally to try your K-Pro in their ECU to see if the K-Pro has been damaged. If it has you will need to purchase a new K-Pro.

Thanks for the response.

What makes you confident that it is a wiring problem?

What do you mean when you say that the Kpro was damaged before?

The engine(k24a) and wiring harness(Kpower) is not of an s2000 anymore. Is there another Kpro option that I should be using?

Would I need to find someone with a rsx ecu to test the Kpro in?

This ECU has had the K-Pro replaced before from being damaged.

Wiring is the most common cause of problems and you have very custom wiring.

We don't have anything specific for a k-swap in an S2000.

It can be tested in an RSX.

If you dont mind me asking, what was the date when the Kpro was replaced? A shop put my car together and I want to know what went down.

Is there anyway to confirm that the wiring is good before purchasing a new kpro only to damage it again?

Thanks

It was replaced a year ago.

I have no way to verify wiring. I would recommend that you have someone look at it that is familiar with doing these kind of swaps.

Thats odd. The shop that installed it on my car, did it this past May.

I guess someone had this ecu before?

Would the ECU itself be ok? Or would just purchasing another ECU be the best option?

Would Hondata be willing to assist in goodwill in cases like this, where I had purchased a Kpro and it got damaged by a shop's mistakes, Possibly by offering a discounted Kpro Replacement?

This would not be covered under warranty. I would recommend that you discuss this with the shop that did the work or sold this to you.
