Intermittent Overboost issue

Post by Deepsadzam »

Hey, new Hondata user here. Disclaimer, I have had a professional check this tune on the dyno. Im having an intermittent overboosting issue, resulting in a fuel cut. Normal boost is around 20-24psi. Boost cut seems to be above 25. "Seems" to be worse when i get on it after cruising steadily for a while. I thought hotter ambient temps played a role, but im not sure. And lastly it seemed to get "better" when filling up 93 from a much more frequented gas station. Engine is a H22a4. Gt35r turbo. MVR tial wastegate. 4 port hondata boost controller. v2 Hondata (red board) Built engine and head. stock cams, adjustable cam gears. Accord transmission w. LSD. Not sure what else you might need about the build if anything. Hoping someone can take a look at the boost control section and tell me if it looks ok. I also have datalogs. Thanks in advance!

File labeled "fuel cut" is just that, although i think i should refer to it as boost cut..

File labeled clean pull was very low boost, not sure why it was in the teens. But it pulled clean to redline

lastly choppy 3rd gear was higher boost, almost boost cut, instead small hiccups here and there throughout the pull

What you are saying is 3rd gear is showing as 4th gear in the datalogs. You are hitting a boost cut and this will have to do with the settings that have been set for the boost control for that gear. You may need to lower the commanded duty cycle for that gear or area.

Thanks for the response Spunkster. I noticed the gear indication was wrong, but didnt think much of it since im new to this. I have since located and updated the gear ratios for the transmission in the car, hopefully that will correct that. I also noticed that Hot boost cut (low boost) was 27psi. and Hot boost cut (high boost) was 9.9 should these be reversed? Lastly do you recommend controlling boost by duty cycle per gear or target boost per gear? I need to find a video to help me understand the charts in the Boost control section.

Yes they should be reversed.

It is up to you and what works best for your and your setup.

Have you read the info in the help file: http://www.hondata.com/help/smanager/bo ... st+control
