S300 install in a p28 ecu wont datalog but did work
I finished installing the s300 I removed j12 jumper installed the black line jumper on j1 and the gold line on r54 I had the ecu plugged in and connected and the tps sensor was reading correctly when I had datalogging on but it stopped working and now d2 blinks red d1 and d3 are green. I looked over the board and everything looks ok but I cant get it to read any engine sensor data but it will change some stuff like coolant temp when I plug it in or start smanager but wont keep updating. I read over the trouble shooting steps here viewtopic.php?t=5226 I think it is the socketing. the car is a 99 dx with the d16y7 and the only thing I have done is the obd2b to obd1 jumper my stock p2e ecu works and in smanager the only error I get is 21 VTEC spool and the IAC valve when the car is on but I still have the 3 wire IAC and I dont have vtec so it seams normal. is there a way to test to see if the issue is with the p28 ECU or the s300 also what basemap would be best for the y7 because when I did have it working it ran bad and had no power. Also does the obd2 distributer work with the obd1 ecu? the TPS sensor would show the correct percent when I pressed the peddel but now it doesnt change and sits at 13% and the read doesnt work.

Post pictures of the soldering on the bottom of the ECU.

It looks like there may be some bad solder joints on the 28pin connector.

Is there a way to test which pin is causing the issue?

Some of our dealers may have a socket tester you can plug in and it will light up showing a good or bad connection.

I checked all the solder joints with a multimeter and the other end of the trace so it went through the solder then copper trace to wherever the signal goes and I found only one that wasnt connecting good on the 4 pin the ground one that goes to the bigger trace so I resoldered it and checked it again and it looked good. I plugged the ecu in then turned the ignition on until the lights on the dash showed then plugged it in to laptop and it was able to datalog and read sensors the way it was doing the first time I left the computer for a minute or two and the screen went black to save power and when I turned it back on it was on what the sensors read last and wouldnt datalog or read sensors I rechecked with multimeter and it all looks good so I dont know what to do. I dont think i can take everything off and reattaching it all withoug getting dirty joints.

If you reboot the laptop, does it datalog correctly?

Re: S300 install in a p28 ecu wont datalog but did work
No I tried rebooting it. Im going to try heating all the joints adn see if theres some connection issue on the trace after that I dont know much else I can do. Is there a spacific order to hooking everything up because im connecting ecu to wiring the harness then turning the ignition on then connecting the cable to my laptop with SManager running then turning on datalogging. I was able to uplode a tune to it and I can clear it off the ecu and I closed smanager without saving the tune so I could see if it was held in the ecu it was its just the datalogging not working. If none of that works do you know anybody who would connect it to ecu and test if for me or resolder it?
