ECU cuts power right after launch

Post by NC77583 »

Hondata S300 version 2.7.8.0, build 2423
'98 Civic Coupe
Sleeved GSR, 62mm Garrett, E85, ~450hp at the moment, M/T 22x8x13 slicks
Calibration and datalogs attached

Good morning,
Right after launching, my car loses all power, as if I just hit boost cut or a lean protection cut. However, looking at the logs, it does not look like I did. When that happens, I have to get off the throttle, then back on it, then the car "comes back online". This happens on every launch, and many times when attempting a burnout as well. I have spent hours looking at these logs and decided to ask for some guidance here. The issue can be seen from 57.6 seconds to 59 seconds in the attached log. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide that would be helpful.

Thank you in advance,
Arthur S.

The cut at 13.5 seconds is lean protection.

Thank you for the prompt response! However, I don't believe I had a cut at 13.5 seconds into the log. It happened from 57.6 to 59 seconds - perhaps that's what you meant, but typed 13.5 after checking that my lean protection is set at 13.5 AFR? Just guessing :)

If that's the case and you're referring to 57.6 seconds: What's the giveaway when you look at the log that that's what happened? I see a lean spike just before it, at 57.3, but it's also as I approach the 1st gear limiter, so I assumed it would not register that as a lean condition.

If you use the Closed Loop template when replaying the datalog, you can see that your AFR goes to 16+ at 57.2 seconds and flatlines - this meets the requirements you have set for lean protection. Which wideband sensor are you using? You really should move it to D10 so you can get the full range of the sensor. Your Lean Protection 2 has a trigger time of 100 ms, so if it sees more than 12.2 AFR for more than 100 ms (at more than 5 psi), it triggers the protection.
