VSS not adjusting

Post by karlfj62 »

I have just received my car back from the tuner and want to use the VSS adjustment. The steps I have taken below are what I tried in order to keep the current tune and also adjust the VSS in order to correct my speedometer.

1)download the tune using the menu bar "online->tools->download" then I saved that file locally on my machine
2)opened the file in KManager (ver 4.5.1)
3)went to "parameters->misc->speed sensor" and adjusted the input to 13% (my desired change) and keep the setting to "normal speed sensor" as I think this is correct for my application (k20a type-r), saved that file by selecting the "save the current calibration" icon in the menu bar
4) then used the "upload changes to ecu" icon on the menu bar. At this point, i believe the ecu takes the file as I can hear the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump prime.
5)I redownload the .kal file from the ecu, using the same steps as outlined above but I do not see the 13% value that I set it to. It is still at 0%. Also when I drive the speedo is still off by about 13%.

Any help is appreciated.

What KPro do you have?

Always download the calibration from the KPro not the ECU. If you have an early KPro which does not store the calibration then we do not recommend that you download the calibration from the ECU; rather keep the calibration on the laptop. If the tuner has not given you the calibration ask them for it.

Thanks for the reply.

I will check the version of KPro in the morning and get back to you.

For downloading from the KPro I should have gone to the "calibration storage tab->retrieve calibration" is that right?

Either way, I will send the tuner a email tonight and get my calibration.

Thanks for the help.

Make sure you have the box checked to "automatically store calibration after uploading to ECU" on the calibration storage tab.

Okay thanks. It is currently not set to "automatically store calibration after uploading to ECU". I will go and change that. So does this mean (based on the procedure I laid out in my first post) I have over written their tune?

Nothing was being stored to the K-Pro if it was not checked, so you would not be able to download from the K-Pro.

okay thanks

So once I get the .kal file from the tuner, I will...

1)enable "automatically store calibration after uploading to ECU". Correct?
2)load the .kal file ( i receive from the tuner) into kmanager
3)manipulate the VSS value to what I want
4)use the "upload changed to ecu" button on the menu bar

is this the correct procedure?

Just use the upload arrow at the top of the screen.
