I recently bought a FlashPro CARB for my 2022 civic ex sedan and after flashing to either the 91 or 93 octane tunes I get intermittent pinging. I’m running 93 octane Shell fuel. The only modification I have is a PRL stage one intake. It does this even when in Econ mode. It seems to happen more frequently with the A/C on. Sometimes it runs great and then the next time it will ping.

I do not believe that intake is CARB approved and that could be the cause.

I never would have thought that it wasn’t CARB approved. I’ll try switching back to my stock intake and see what happens. Thanks for the quick reply.

It looks like the PRL intake was the problem. I’ve been driving it for two days and no ping! Do you know if anyone makes a CARB approved intake for my car? Thanks for all of your help.

I don't know. You will have to check with the manufacturers of the intakes. The OEM intake is probably best in most cases.

I think it just said civic 1.5L turbo but I don’t remember 100%

Our Stage 1 Intake, High Volume Intake or quite frankly any of our Intakes will not cause pinging/knock/detonation. All of our intakes are currently through testing at CARB, as our intakes were designed to deliver factory-like fuel trims and driveability. There is nothing in the construct if our intakes, especially the Stage 1 Intake, that would cause this issue. If you have experienced true "pinging", there is another issue at hand.

For reference, Hondata's CARB FlashPro for 10th Generation Civic is perfectly compatible with our Cobra CAI (Street MAF Housing). The same will hold true with the 11th Gen Civic once we release our HVI. To reiterate, our intakes do NOT require a tune.

I’m not sure how to explain it then. As soon as I removed the intake the pinging stopped. If it’s any consolation, I loved the intake prior to flashing the ECU.
