2012 Si base map tune

I have a 2012 civic si. With a Aem Cai and a skunk2 alpha ... header that I'm installing in a few days. I'm keeping the stock exhaust. what base map should I start with? its my commuter car to work so I drive about 800 miles a week. mostly highway. I would like to eliminate rev hang.

If you want to run a Hondata basemap, you will want to use the 2012 "Short ram intake, cat delete, catback exhaust " calibration. That one is speed density prepped, which will work best with your intake. Just be sure to make a datalog of you driving for twenty minutes so we can look it over and see what changes need to be made.
If you want to go with a custom tune, let me know the intake and DP is all you have planned for the foreseeable future. If you don't have any more mods planned, we can go in and tune a complete custom tune if you want. Just let me know what you want to do.

I'm new to hondata and everything part of it. my previous car was a 06 tsx 6mt with a cai and plm header and a hondata reflash. I purchased the car with all the mods. I really liked the way it ran. I purchased the 2012 Si to replace tsx as my commuter. I cant keep it stock so her I am now. So My skunk2 dp came in so I had a chance to install it. downloaded the hondata tune you recommended. I made a datalog. let me know what you think and what I need to do to make it run the best with I have. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah overall it's not too bad. The only real issue is there is a lot of knock on a few of your pulls resulting in a high knock count in aggregate. The fuel stuff isn't too bad, but could use some work.
If the intake and DP is all you have planned for a while, we can go in and tune it starting you on my stuff and we would tune each cam angle one by one. This is the proper way to do it and gather all the data we need, then use that data build a custom cam angle map specifically for your car and overall gives you the best tune. This will usually take around ten revisions for a setup like yours. I know gas prices aren't cheap anywhere right now, so if I can get it done faster I will, but that is a rough idea on how long it generally takes.
If you'd rather just clean up the Hondata basemap for the issues I mention, let me know. It's your car, so it's entirely up to you whether to go full custom or just clean up the Hondata file.

Okay, here is the first one for you. This one is the 0* cam angle, so don't get discouraged when it doesn't feel fast. The 0* angle is the least powerful, but it helps us lay the foundation for everything we do moving forward. For the datalogs, we need them to be in the twenty minute range with normal stop and go type driving, on the drive, we need one wide open throttle (WOT) pull in third gear from 2500-7500 to work on the WOT fueling. Please datalog through the FlashPro device and send me the datalogs from the FlashPro. You can watch the data on a laptop if you plan to do that, but please use the datalog button on the FlashPro to start/stop datalogs and send me the files from the FlashPro.

It looks like the new calibration wasn't uploaded before your drive. The cam angle isn't running on 0*, among other things. Double check the upload, and or perhaps you downloaded and saved the wrong file? Either way this datalog isn't running our first calibration for you. Let me know what you figure out.

Not bad for a start, a little on the rich side but I cleaned all that up. I also made some ignition adjustments for the knock. We will now move to the 15* cam angle with vtec at 4500 again. Take this one for the same type of drive and datalog when you can.

It's looking really good. We will now move to the 30* cam angle with vtec at 5500. Take this one for the same type of datalog and driving style.

It looks pretty good. We will now do one on the 30* cam angle with vtec at 4000. For this one, you can make a ten minute drive if you want, the main thing we need is the third gear pull basically. This might be the last one locked on one cam angle, but we might do one more, we'll see how this one looks. Either way, we're getting close to seeing the final product.

I was finally able to download the datalogs. its definitely feels a lot better then stock.

That's good, it will get better once we blend out the cam angle map too. One cam angle isn't the best for drivability and power, so once we get to the blended portion it should feel a lot better. That one looked good, so we will do one on the 40* cam angle to finish out our cam angle mapping data. Take this one for a spin when you can, ten minutes is fine, just be sure to get a clean third gear WOT pull. After this, we will blend out the tables as I mention, so this one will be the last cam angle locked revision before we blend it out.
