Need help with tune for 03 RSX Type-S K20A2 on KPro V4

Post by Uhh effects »

As the title goes, need help with a tune to get my 03 Type S K20A2 running right.

Issues are as follows:
-High idle from cold start, sits at 2,000RPM for 1.5minutes then slowly idles down to 1,000RPM-800RPM (Idle Set at 750)
-MOST TIMES when coming to a stop, with the clutch pushed in/in neutral, RPM's jump between 1,000RPM and 2,000RPM
-When driving if you let off the pedal and let it start decelerating there is an immediate jolt as soon as pedal is fully let off and when pedal is let off I can see on Kmanager that A/F's lock at 32.7
-When at a stop and slightly revving it, sometimes it will do an idle surge or very slow idle-down

Running on KPro V4 Toda Headers, Intake, Exhaust Base map tune.

Many thanks!

The high idle makes me think it’s a vacuum leak and the jolting maybe be due to air fuel. Post a datalog and calibration file you are using.

Thanks for the reply, I'll go ahead and double check for vacuum leaks but i'd like to make note that this car had no issues idling when running on stock ECU. I've provided two different datalogs, a 10 minute from cold start, and 15 min of casual driving at temp. Thanks! :D

I looked the files over it looks like the car is running rich. This can explain some on jolting and drivability issues. Regarding the high idle, I would take a look at the IACV. I reduced the VTC 0 table by 10% as a test in the event that it being rich might effect the idle.
Load the file and datalog the car.

So I went ahead and checked for vacuum leaks, none showed up that I could find and the car did run fine on stock ECU before so I don't think vacuum is an issue. I was having an issue when coming to lights/stopping where the RPM's would jump from 1,000RPM to 2,000RPM but didn't mention it to you because I figured it was my IACV but I just got around to cleaning it this past weekend and it still changed nothing. Yesterday I loaded the map you sent me and it fixed that idle surge issue that seemed like IACV, I drove the car for a bit and it started acting up a lot again. Fast forward to today, I reloaded the map, it fixed IACV symptoms again, hasn't done idle surge when coming to stop since, though it's only ran for about an hour since I did so today. Honestly sounds better than it did before KPro besides the odd idle at start, the jolts of course, and the extreme richness. I've included the Calibration along with 2x 10 minute minute datalog's first being from cold start, second of casual driving, after 15 minute was recorded, and a 15 min of casual driving and idling after cold start and warm up. I'm still getting 32.1ish A/F's on decel, there is still a very noticeable jolt on decel, and now A/F's also dip into high 10's to very low 11's when apply any sort of throttle past like 25%... :(

I looked over the datalogs and i cant figure out why its idling high other than it has to be a mechanical issue. Maybe someone else can chime in. Yes, the map is running rich. Did you use the stock k20a2 calibration file or did you use one with headers and an intake. The 32.1 A/F at decel is normal as the injector shut off during decel.
