15 Si skunk2 intake tune help

I have a 2015 Si and I purchased a skunk2 CAI and hondata flashpro carb unit at the same time and installed both. The previous owner of the flashpro had a tune on it that he said worked with his intake and didn't give him a check light. Well i didn't get so lucky, 3 days in i got a code for running rich. Is a custom tune the only way to fix this? I don't have any plans to install a exhaust or exhaust down the road. I wouldn't be against a dyno tune at a shop if anyone can recommend anyone in the tristate area or a internet tune.

Unfortunately with the Skunk2 intake, the CARB FlashPro won't allow you to upload a calibration that will work for it. With the CARB FlashPro, we cannot make any fuel adjustments as those tunes are preset with no allowable fuel adjustments. For them to be CARB legal, they can't be modified in a way that impacts emissions. You will need to pick up a standard FlashPro race edition so proper adjustments can be made for you. Even a dyno tuner won't be able to tune it using your CARB unit, however, Hondata authorized dyno shops have a FlashPros that can tune multiple cars and you pay a license fee. You don't receive a FlashPro that way, but they can usually tune them much cheaper for you through licensing. If you want a FlashPro, you will need to purchase a race edition as soon as you can. It might be a good idea to put the stock intake back on for right now.
Sorry for all the bad news man.

So if I run the stock Intake I can just run a stock base map then and be ok?

Yes. Put on the stock intake and upload the “CARB MAF Tuned” calibration if you want to continue that FlashPro. That will be your best option with the CARB FlashPro.
There are a couple things you can do in those calibrations to make it drive a little better and feel a little sportier. I can put that file together and post it for you if you’d like.

That would be awesome I appreciate it. I’m not looking for it to be a race car just a little sportier than stock.

Sounds good. Yeah we can only control the throttle pedal map and the cam angle following commanded. Otherwise, everything else is preset by Hondata per their CARB certification. Though I'm sure they've gone in and done the best they can to increase performance within those confines. We can lower vtec, but this one has it at 4850 in stock form, so see how that works for you.
Once you get the stock intake on, take it for a spin and see how it goes. Be sure to make a datalog of the drive, that way we can see how it all looks. I can't adjust anything, but we can at least see how it looks.

Thank you will do. Anything I need to specifically do like a 2-3 gear pull?

Try to do more stop and go driving like around town, as opposed to long highway cruising at steady speed. And one third gear pull from 2500-7000rpm.

Overall it's not too bad. The fuel trims are trending towards the rich side which is no big deal in reality. There is a little bit of knock when the knock control value is low, so if it does see more knock it will raise that value and pull timing to try to stop the knock. On the WOT pulls it's a little rich, but again nothing to be too concerned about. It could use some cleaning up just to make things a little better, but we can't with that FlashPro.
If you decide to put the Skunk intake on, you will have to get a race version of the FlashPro in order to run it. If you add a exhaust or something down the road with this CARB FlashPro, be sure to datalog it and see how it looks. For now though with this CARB FlashPro, I don't see you having any issues with it.

Thank you for your insight and help I appreciate it. Car drives better than stock and to be honest I don’t feel much of a difference between the stock and skunk2 I take other than noise.

You're welcome. Yeah if we were able to tune the ECU for the Skunk2 intake you would probably pickup some performance. But in stock form, Hondata really tries to do the best they can for the CARB basemaps to get you the best product while meeting their CARB certification. I can't see all the setting, but I know they put a lot of work into those calibrations.
Have fun with it. Make sure you always fill it up with premium fuel (91-93 octane) so you can provide the best protection from knock.

Make a folder to save files in. Click on my calibration, then it will open your FlashPro manager. In the top left of FlashPro manager, go "file" then "save as". Save the calibration to that folder you created.
Then take the laptop to the car with your FlashPro. Connect the USB connector to the laptop, and the OBDII connector to the OBDII port on your car just like you're datalogging. At the bottom left of the screen make sure you have green check marks for the FlashPro, USB, and ECU. That means you're connected and ready, make sure you put the key to the "on" position but do not start it.
Then in FlashPro manager, you will see a vertical arrow near the top, if you hover over it, it will say upload current calibration. Once you hit the upload button and it starts flashing the calibration. Do not turn off the ignition for any reason, wait until it's completely finished. Otherwise it can cause the upload to fail and cause issues to reflashing.
Here is a video to do it without having to take your laptop to the car if you don't want to.
