kpro4 can bus to MXG issue need help

Post by kekeberg#2302 »

hi, i have 3 devices on can bus geartronics gearbox control unit aim mxg dash and the kpro4. atm on the protocol motec adl/sdl, everything works kinda.
I do miss multiple things discovered this 1 week ago biggest concern is MIL light others would be nice VTS CL. these following i dont care analoge 0 analoge 1. even that kpro4 motec sends this data the AIM protocol called Kpro4_can (V02.00.02) does not have this data. i wanted too try the Hondata protocol 250kbit 500kbit 1mbit in kmanager these do not work with the Kpro4_can. i found a file from AIM link below that shows their data sadly i see some differences but the MIL light is on their secondary HONDATA protocol. what do i need to select in Kmanager? here again some differences MIl light on AIM is ecu20 in kmanager manuel under 0x5f0 bit 8 and under the 0x660 it has spot 7. note that comparing both manuels you will see more difference like IAT and ECT are swapped on AIM side but not on hondata

1. what do i need to select in AIM racestudio3 >> kpro4_can or HONDATA protocol
2. what do i need to select in Kmanager?
the info in kmanager manuel is not well shown we speak about motec & hondata
we speak about AIM protocol but there isnt a AIM "tab" under multiplexer unless you guys mean the MXL? i am very confused what to what corresponds. see pic
the hondata / motec has the same ID "0x660" from what i understand but they dont work as stated previously.
3. other Question the hondata manuel states selectable speeds how do i select the speed, does it go by itself?
i have been trying too fix this for past week been working on this can system for 5 weeks. reading and reading this forum and others still came too no solution. i made an account in the hope anyone could help me out. i already feel it is something stupid, my brain cant find it :(

i apologise if i broke rules or made mistakes this is first time being on a forum, i normallly always get the solution but this feels above what i can understand, also time short first race is coming in close. i am so sorry for any wrong doings. i build my own protocols for geartronics / AIM but kpro doesnt have can build utility so dont know how get around the existing can protocols now just hoping someone point me what to select.

thanks in advance best regards.

These are questions you need to ask AiM.

The KPro4 can output two different protocols. Both send MIL, CL etc so if you're not receiving those channels it's not anything we can fix. MoTeC and Hondata are the same protocol. MoTeC is 500 kbps, Hondata 250, 500 or 1000 kbps. AiM is a different protocol and 1000 kbps.

I've no idea why AiM would use the MoTeC protocol. Again something to ask AiM.

hi, thanks for answering.

i have talked too aim support in holland, the answer i get is the following. "ask hondata for a DBC file and import this into costum can builder on racestudio 3 this would work."

is this something i can do myself or that you could help me with?

with best regards.

We do not work using DBC files. Either yourself or AiM would need to make one. The CAN packet format is documented in the above links.
