KManager won't connect to laptop USB

Post by futureal33 »

Hello all,

Having some problems getting my kPro to connect with my Windows 10 laptop.
It is connected via USB and says Device Drivers Installed, Offline...

But the car ignition is on and the USB is connected.

It worked once where it said online and ignition on... But now I'm getting no connection at all

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the software and drivers manually but still no luck

Can anyone help?

From Help, About, what is the version of software you are using?

What type of KPro do you have? Is this is new KPro installation? What vehicle? What does the windows device manager show when you plug the KPro in?

It's the Kpro V4, yes a brand new installation (ECU was modified just yesterday)

Honda Integra DC5 JDM 2003 model

The windows device manager shows the hondata ECU as working properly.

It worked one time and I was able to get a map onto the car, and then a very short datalog... But ever since it just won't connect at all and says Off Line. I've uninstalled, rebooted the laptop, uninstalled the drivers then manually reinstalled them... But nothing, no luck. Been trying about 90 minutes now and haven't managed to get it to reconnect to the ECU at all

Thanks, it's version 4.5.1.0

Would a video of what I'm doing help, I can record the exact steps I'm doing and put it on YouTube?

Bit of an update, it's something to do with my aftermarket immobiliser... I can't quite figure out what exactly but it's definitely related.

Is this common on cars with aftermarket immobilisers, is there anything I need to do?

What is the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

Who did the installation?

K-Pro & Toad aftermarket immobiliser...

Hoping someone else here has been through this and can offer any advice..

So my pre-FL 2003 DC5 is fitted with an aftermarket Toad immobiliser. When you unlock the car (using the toad remote fob) there is a green light on the dash which stays lit for 30s - during which time you can start the car.
If you wait more than 30s after pressing unlock and trying to start it, the green light goes red and the immobiliser prevents the car from starting.

You then to do the following to make the car start: Open the drivers door, remove the keys from the ignition completely, unlock the car again with the fob, and repeat the process. The light will then turn green for another 30s

I've just had a K-Pro V4 fitted and this is causing me a few problems.

Mainly that you only have this amount of time to connect the USB into the laptop after the ignition is turned on and then write the map to the car... It is literally a race against time.

If it succeeds the map is successfully written to the car and you're ok...

If it fails the ECU is wiped and the car will not start - as the map writing process is only half complete before the immobiliser kicks in and turns off the ECU.

If the light is red on the dash the Kpro cannot communicate with the ECU and it says offline even if the USB is connected and ignition is on. I assume the way the immobiliser works is to cut power to the ECU completely.
Only when the light is green can the laptop and K-Pro ECU communicate.

This is a real pain in the ar*e.

I'm hoping someone has been in this situation before given that the Toad immobiliser is quite a common choice for DC5s and can offer any help or suggest if there's a better/different process?

Cheers

The serial is 60332 installed by CPL Racing in the UK

I would recommend that you remove the aftermarket immobilizer as it is most likely the root of the problem. If you continue to have issues, you should contact CPL for assistance with the installation.
