ECU has no power

Post by n95b »

good evening. I'm having issues with KPRO as it is not powering fuel pump thus doesn't prime fuel pump after ECU is plugged in and key is in ON position. But once I connect the laptop into ecu, the fuel pump primes and engine turns over and starts. Any ideas where I should look, test, or remove. Thank you.

What is happening is that a ground path is missing from the ECU to vehicle, and when you plug in the USB it grounds through the USB. Don't plug in the USB until you have fixed this problem because the current will burn out the ECU and/or KPro. Usually it is a missing, bad or misplaced ground. But it can be the harness as well.

Sometimes the ecu works without laptop. And that is puzzling me.

Any ideas where to start tracing ground issue?

I would check all the wiring in the engine bay and check for loose or damaged wiring focusing on the grounds.
