KPROV4 ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT ON BUT SHOWING NO FAULT CODES

Post by KPROHIRST »

Hello,

I bought a kprov4 a couple years ago and it’s started todo something strange. I wonder if anyone has had the same experience.

Sometimes when I turn the engine on, the engine management light comes on and remains on; limiting my revs to 4000. I have tried to Diagnose the problem with the kpro4 app and a friends expensive OBD reader . The Bluetooth kpro app won’t work and And OBD shows no faults. I plugged straight into the ecu with the USB2 lead and the engine management light disappears with no fault code having shown.

After reuploading a map from the Kmanager the car seems fine for a few days. Then randomly the engine management light reappears and the revs are limited to 4k again.

Does anyone know the reason for this?? No fault codes to point me in the right direction. So any past experience would be great. Thanks

You need to datalog using the laptop when this occurs and see what is reported. You may have low voltage when cranking that is causing this.

Thank you for the fast reply. The datalog does indeed state daughterboard communication error (battery voltage low when cranking) . How do I go by fixing the problem. Thanks.

The battery may need to be charged or replaced. It could also be a wiring related issue if there is corrosion or the battery has been relocated.
