Honda Civic type-R FN2 2.0 201 KM P2646

Post by Sirobur »

My case: Honda Civic type-R FN2 2.0 201 KM

It all started with the first attempt to use the * .fpcal file, which was supposed to provide Pops&Bangs mod in my stock FN2. After uploading from Flashpro manager and warming up the car, the popcorn sound effect in the exhaust could be heard when slowing down. The ride was rather casual and calm up to around 4000 Rpm. I once speeded up the car to about 8000 Rpm, then the check engine showed up and the VES light came on. Similar behavior as in the case of a damaged VTEC valve, which was replaced about 3 months ago.
I am enclosing screenshots of this setting for review:

After I stopped the car I thought that the problem concerns only the uploaded calibration, so using the "Return ECU to stock" option, I restored the factory ECU settings. However, after speeding the car up to less than 5k Rpm, the check engine appears again and the VSA lights up. The car cannot run faster than 5k Rpm. Connecting the diagnostic computer indicates error P2646. Oil level checked OK and is at upper limit.
Questions:
1. Could this Pops&Bangs map cause any physical damage when the car was speeded up to 8k Rpm? If necessary, I can post more screenshots.
2. Does "return ECU to stock" actually restore to the factory settings, regardless of the controller model which could be different depending on the car’s year / country of origin?
3. If there was a different map to the ECU previously installed, does “Return ECU to Stock” return to that previously installed map or overwrites it to the factory one?
4. Is it possible to use Hondata FlashPro to download a modified map from the ECU to a * .fpcal file?
5. If I had a * .fpcal file of a previously downloaded map from my OEM driver and now I would upload it via FlashPro Manager, would the car work without errors?

It's not good for the engine to have pops and bangs.

You can return to stock at any time from the online menu in the software. This is as it came from the factory.

You cannot download from the ECU.

You can try uploading a different calibration and see how it runs.

The cylinder walls gets washed down by the fuel and the rings cease to seal.

Thanks for advice. I have an appointment with a mechanic on December 28, I suspect a VTEC valve.

I'll let you know how it ended.
