Enable Sec O2, FTP, PA, ELD and Misfire Detection

Post by KSeries4Life »

Hello,
I'm working out random misfire codes lighting up my MIL under medium to heavy load. The engine itself has 80k miles on it and was brought out of storage where it's been for 6 years. Injectors were clogged, but was able to get them working again with some gentle tapping and carb cleaner. Spark plugs are brand new and gapped to spec. Getting 230 psi on all cylinders. Honestly, the engine feels like it was shipped to me from the factory brand new. Plenty of power and no hesitation ever. So could I be getting false detections? When I turn off "Enable Sec O2, FTP, PA, ELD" the MIL no longer lights up under load and I get no misfire codes (see logs). I've always had this option checked with this ecu when running my k-swap. I'm fine with leaving it unchecked, but not if it disables all misfire detection or if I'm actually getting misfires.

Thanks,
Aaron

What is the serial number on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

That's not the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU.

Sorry, not seeing anything that would be an obvious serial number. Is it the 40183 number?

Here are pics of the whole board.

Right, there is some custom wiring going on with my setup. This was once a k-swap vehicle and now the F22 motor has been swapped back in.

I just have a general question about the "Enable Sec O2, FTP, PA, ELD" option and whether or not it completely disables misfire detection. And maybe some reasons why I might be getting false misfires with it enabled.

Thanks

This ECU is not designed to run this setup and you have done custom wiring which probably has something to do with the issues.

Well, back when the K24 motor was in it, I was getting support.

In a hypothetical world, where I still have a K24 motor in this car, and I leave "Enable Sec O2, FTP, PA, ELD" unchecked, what are the changes to the functions of the car. Are important error codes being suppressed? Like misfire detection?

Thanks,
Aaron

I would still like to get support for my kpro, so I've gone ahead and just restored this vehicles ECU and wiring to stock. I'll just use it for an upcoming k-swap project.

For future reference though, can you please explain what leaving "Enable Sec O2, FTP, PA, ELD" unchecked does? I've looked everywhere for a detailed explanation and all I have been able to find is that "the vehicle runs without it". Even for a race vehicle, I would think you would want misfire detection enabled.

Thanks

They have nothing to do with misfire detection.
