Hello guys,
I swapped a K-Frankenstein (k20z3 head/k24a2 block), attached to a 2007 civic si 6-speed trans( so countershaft driven speed sensor), into a 2000 civic hatch. Im using an 03 rsx auto PND ecu with kpro v4,
using a Phanetrics conversion harness

I have followed the speedo patch instructions to connect the VSS wire A18 to the red VSS wire to the kpro board, and also selected the alternate speed input selection and did the calibration.

the issue is the speedo flies around to 150 miles+ as the trans is put in 1st gear and barely rolling.
what could be the issue here?

the speedo was working fine when the bswap was in in the car

Do you have the countershaft driven speed sensor selected in the calibration?

No, I'm using the "alternative speed input" and did the calibration 2485 smoothing 10... as instructed.

The speedo will not get the correct speed as it is not output from the ECU.

Ok, tried the counter shaft speed sensor this time and does the same thing.. but not as wildly

So do i place the vss wire back into A18 and ignore the alternative speed setup to the VS on the kpro board?

The "alternative speed" setup does the same thing as the "countershaft speed" setup while the "vss to vs on kpro board" wire patch is done.

Therefore, do i undo the patch and connect the vss wire back to A18?


I have had a suggestion stating that i should use a "KTUNED All-In-One VSS inverter" along with the "Alternative Speed" setup in Kpro. Wanted to verify this with you before going out and purchasing it. what is your or anyone's opinions on this.

I am sure im not the only one that has encountered the issue or doing this setup, been searching around but cant find any info on it.

Using an auto ECU there will be no way to get the signal to the cluster. You will need a speed converter for the cluster to read correctly.

Oh ok, well Ktuned all-in-one speed inverter it is the way to go then.
